The National Tiger Conservation Authority has since then, been fulfilling its mandate within the ambit of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 for strengthening tiger conservation in the country by retaining an oversight through advisories/normative guidelines, based on appraisal of tiger status, ongoing conservation initiatives and recommendations of specially constituted Committees.

The NTCA has streamlined tiger conservation in the country by assisting the States technically as well as financially in the following areas as follows;

Technical Support

NTCA has formulated advisories/ guidelines on the following subjects for implementation by the tiger reserves.

Financial Support

Through Annual Plan of Operations (APO), NTCA has been providing financial assistance to tiger reserves for the following areas of activities.

-Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF)
-Anti-poaching
-Habitat Management
-M-STrIPES (Monitoring system for tigers, intensive patrolling and ecological status)
-Awareness and outreach
-Man-animal conflict
-Eco development
-Human Resource Development (HRD)
-Monitoring through Phase IV protocol
-Technological interventions like UAVs and e-Eye
